Even though its said that Neos being single-threaded is a myth, and yes, it is technically multi-threaded with workers in a way, a lot of the important things is still in a single thread

Turning a gaming engine that is based on Entity-Component to actually make use of all cores, I think is not impossible, just very hard to do

That being said, my 5 cents on the previous discussion if everything goes up, I'm unsure what I'd specifically do. I guess I could go back to my previous platform... except I can't since it's gone. Only choice after that would be one of its forks, which would be ironic considering the desire for an open source system that some people want here. Would mean a stronger starting point, since most of my code from previous would carry over, and most resources from Neos I have already works there.

However, I would miss the tools Neos has since, frankly speaking, they're more refined. Recreating would be possible, but it'd be a case of "Why am I reinventing the wheel a millionth time?"

So, for me, I don't mind continuing to create in Neos, since I can backport my stuff fairly easily

That's all correct if you want to build rooms that feel natural. Lookup the building codes in your jurisdictions for door heights and widths. then just make sure those are in meters and you'll be good to go.

if I'm not mistaken, you can also get Blender to also build in metric, resulting in the two playing more nicely (I mean, besides the fact you can just bring in blender files natively)

Blender by default is in metric but users usually select "auto" when importing so that it doesn't end up lining up.

Additionally exporting models in to various formats can affect the scale.

If you can get all of those issues resolved instead of select auto scale you select "meters" and everything works correctly.

However if you've forgotten one step or used the slightly wrong export options in blender then you end up with city sized models or atom sized models.

Well, the other thing to remember is that Patreon NCR isn't the same as exchange NCR, in that the Patreon one isn't even a token, but rather contributes to your balance on the account. In that case, you don't have fees involved.

Back when I used to do mining for learning experiences, this would be around the time I moved everything into the garage for natural cooling.

that's what VR was for: GPU was basically the heater, to the point where I had to actively cool the room off, even during the winter. I partially blame a terrible thermostat

however, the thermostat is located in the dining room, which is the most volatile room, so any temp changes results in changes for the whole house, even if the rooms with occupation don't need it

I mean, to some regard, Neos does have that with slots that can have variables in it that are addressable by address. So it's less C# and more C++ in that regard.

I don't understand the collectively embarrassing level of hatred for Elon Musk, and I probably never will. Man completely disrupted the entire space transportation industry, the entire automotive industry, the entire payment processing industry, now he's biting into social media. If people don't like how he shakes things up, it's not exactly a poor reflection on him. He's improving the standard by which many things are done, even if ill-conceived initially. There are only a few cryptocurrencies that I know that have intrinsic value, which is usually the main currency of a blockchain that is to pay transaction fees

I don't doubt that, actually. However some history might help in understanding one of the concepts of how fiat works. It involved a kingdom, soldiers and taxes. Someone else might be better at explaining how that works

additionally, and this goes for basically everything, is ease of use. Let's be real: crypto isn't exactly user friendly, even if you unironically let an exchange manage your wallet (and thus, defeating the whole point of a decentralized digital currency). Remember how there used to be butt of jokes with older people who still paid with checks? Nowadays, that same concept now goes with sliding credit cards over the superior wireless payment options or just using your phone ala GPay, ApplePay, or WhotheheckcaresPay. It might be a generational situation, but until you have people who actually are using the newer tech as an actual form of exchange, it also kind of defeats the point.

Thats the thing. The NCR coin is an utility coin, that was meant to give something to sponsors of neos, that they can show/trade as a token of gratitude. To be part of the success of the project, as they probably get more valuable if neos is successful^^

I feel part of the issue was having it be tradable outside of neos out of the gate. This made people speculate on it based on it being a token and less of it being a reward for the people actually backing and using it. It became just another token rather than being the platform's premium coin that showed value because of its origin.

I think maybe a little note/reminder here will be helpful to keep the discussion rational ☺️.

Going back to history and referring to the current whitepaper - yes, one of the purposes of NCR was to be used within the Neos community as a token of “gratitude” (I am quite fond of that expression actually☺️) so tipping creators for instance, as well as to recognize and reward those who are making valuable contributions to the platform. It’s why CDF was designed in the first place. The founders and the team wanted of course to encourage more people to get involved in the development and growth of Neos. Seems like in a galaxy far far away, I know, but I think we can agree that the vision for NCR was - and still is, very different from all these 21.000 other “s**t coin” projects that some of you are referring to.

It was supposed to be a slow and steady growth that rewards long-term holders - so not designed for speculation, but rather for very practical reasons. And going steady, of course eventually NCR would allow for much wider economic activity - such as integration with planned Neos Store, Neos Jobs, and all activities described in the whitepaper.

Now. For a token, any token or tradable asset, NCR, or whatnot, it is important to remember that the value is ultimately determined by the demand for it. That seems very obvious but we tend to forget.
So in order to increase liquidity and value, it is not uncommon for utility tokens similar to NCR to be traded on crypto exchanges - there are simply more buyers and sellers available there, not just the imminent (and rather small) audience that is actively using the platform.

However, in practice, that demand is heavily influenced by a variety of factors - one of them being community sentiment. Which for Neos and NCR was one big kaboom.😅 We do not need to go into all the painful reminders, but we are where we are largely because of it.

There are of course other ways to increase value and add stability beyond trading on exchanges - simply increasing usage within the platform, some healthy strategic partnerships, regular updates, new features, fostering open community etc etc. You can see how most of it is very problematic for Neos right now.
So we are all doing the best we can given the situation we are in.

We understand that those who are still left and care, are feeling frustrated and anxious.

not really. Basically, there are kind of two kinds of NCR: the in-world balance, which isn't subject to gas fees and can be exchanged with no delay between users, and the token version, which requires the whole usual deal of needing a wallet and dealing with fees if you plan to move it at all

so, the issue is that most people in Neos's system (i.e. its users) have an extra amount of NCR that isn't exposed on the usual market that other people deal with, and is easier to deal with. You can transfer between the two states, but that of course comes with the faults of the wallet based version in both directions.

of course, when it comes to a utility token having... utility, only the in-world NCR has any actual use

Combination of things. Was pushed to high to quickly, not enough players to sustain that and then the fight of the two owners. It basicly came crashing down as a result of everything colliding

I’m in Prague where I have been for months. My wife is from and has family in Portugal thats why we sometimes go there. Not sure why that is public information or who made it public but it’s not about holidays. That’s the last thing on my mind rn.

As for NCR price being so low as it is, that is to be expected with macro this low and the very bad look the dev strike brought in term of future development pace expectations.

We have to demonstrate things are moving forward and that Neos is well alive to get the price to ATH and beyond.

Better macro that is coming sooner or later will help as well.

All projects dealing with crypto are rather quiet in terms of announcements in this market phase. This may be the reason.
Ranting about a team is easy when you're sitting in the stands and just watching the game.

Is there any possibility the neosvr team just put the project on hold because of crypto bearmarket? Nothing to gain now and if market get bullisch and team moves forward again it would give sentiment around NCR a super boost?

This is especially critical if the in-world balances are then to be sent to the chain, which would require exact time and trade value for 1040D
